What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Oh! precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow;
No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
For my pardon, this I see,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
For my cleansing this my plea,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Nothing can for sin atone,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
Naught of good that I have done,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
This is all my hope and peace,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
This is all my righteousness,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Now by this I’ll overcome—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
Now by this I’ll reach my home—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Glory! Glory! This I sing—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus,
All my praise for this I bring—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

““O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?”
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.”
(1Corinthians 15:55-58 ESVS)
Here the apostle Paul taunts death to his face. Death has no lasting power, its sting has been removed. Jesus kept the law perfectly for us so that we would be victorious over death. Jesus removed the power and penalty of sin! The power of sin is no match for our Lord Jesus Christ We will be steadfast and never give in, and excel in the work of the Lord and bring glory to His name. Our victory is secure because Christ has secured it.
Many Christians today complain about our Godless culture. We blame Hollywood, we blame the liberal media, we blame the court system, we blame all the sinners committing sin. We look outward for the cause. If only God were brought back into society it would fix our problems! But are these issues the problem or are they the symptom of something far worse? Have we lost Christ from Christianity? Has most of Christianity become mainly materialistic moralisim? Do we use Jesus to get more of our slice of the American dream? Have we pushed Christ aside in most of our churches and replaced Him with something else? We worship personalities, forms of worship music and the latest leadership fad more than the risen Christ.
Am I being overly harsh? Maybe so, but then again, tell me this, what do you see on Christian television? What do you hear preached across American every Sunday? Do you here the God centered gospel, that Jesus died in our place to bring us to God, or a man centered self improvement program? Is Jesus a means to an end or the end for which we are saved? Did Jesus die to help us be a better us and have our best life now or to save us from the wrath of a righteous holy God? Do we hear repent and believe the gospel? Culture will not be reformed until the church becomes Christian again.
Dear Lord Jesus, forgive us for what we have done and give us I pray a spirit of repentance.
