Christ will be all or nothing. God fills the whole universe, and hence there is no room for another god; if, then, He reigns in my heart, there will be no space for another reigning power. Do I rest alone on Jesus crucified, and live alone for Him? Is it my desire to do so? Is my heart set upon so doing? If so, blessed be the mighty grace which has led me to salvation; and if not so, O Lord, pardon my sad offence, and unite my heart to fear Thy name. – C.H. Spurgeon
I have a new President and leadership to pray for, not one I voted for, or one that I can agree with on many crucial matters. But still, he is my President and I will honor and respect him. I will pray for his family and that he be given a spirit of wisdom in dealing with the tough times ahead. May the Lord bless our new President.
Some say that because Obama has been elected that Jesus is coming back soon. My response to this is that I hope so! But I don’t believe it is because of who was elected, but it will be on God’s sovereign time frame. To say that because a certain person is elected to be our President the end is near is to fall for the notion that America is at the center of world events and history. Which is really to say that we are at the center, and this is the main and continual problem of the human race.
Are we thrilled at the prospect of Christ return or is our way of life threaten by it? When people say that Jesus is coming back soon because of the election results is it code-speak for things are going to be really bad? When people say things like “Jesus is coming soon” and have a sour look on their face it really makes me wonder.
